About me

Willams de Lima, M.Sc.

Hi there! I’m Will, a Computer Science Ph.D. candidate from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) in Recife, Brazil. Currently, I am conducting research as a human behavior recognition team leader at Voxar Labs. In this role, I lead a group of graduate students and collaborate on research and development projects with several industry partners.

My primary research focuses on emotion recognition and activity monitoring in various non-controlled environments. I’m particularly interested in applying these techniques to real-world scenarios. I anticipate completing my Ph.D. in early 2024 under the guidance of Prof. Veronica Teichrieb, with additional guidance from Prof. Lucas Silva Figueiredo and Prof. Estefania Talavera Martinez.

In addition to my research responsibilities, I also co-advise undergraduate students under the supervision of Prof. Veronica Teichrieb. Furthermore, through participating in teaching internship programs at UFPE, I have gained 1.5 years of teaching experience and successfully completed three co-orientations.

Finally, I actively contribute to the academic community as a reviewer for conferences such as the Brazilian Computer Society Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality and journals like the Journal on Interactive Systems and IEEE Access. Additionally, I have served as a web chair for events like ISMAR (2020), SVR (2020), and SIBGRAPI (2020).
